othello

Othello
By William Shakespeare

Othello is the greatest account of sexual jealousy in any language, one of Shakespeare's most poignant tragedies. At the heart of the play lies the simple love story of the heroic General, Othello and his beloved young bride, Desdemona, two people defying society in order to follow their own hearts. But their love is corrupted by Othello’s own destructive weakness.
In this inspirational production, Othello is Maori born, missionary-adopted, British educated and never returned to New Zealand until now. He is a General of the British Army and comes to New Zealand a stranger in his own land. The time is The New Zealand Wars.
